X-WR-CALDESC:This is an introductory handcycle ride for those new to adapti
 ve mountain biking (not a haul-ass downhill mountain bike run!)  Our elect
 ric assist handcycles are considered mobility devices on this trail that d
 oes not allow motorized vehicles\, and so we need to respect that special 
 allowance and other trail users. \n​\nYou must be able to transfer into an
 d out of the handcycle seat that is 12 inches above the ground. Bring your
  trusted transfer help. We have a motorized chair lift and a Hoyer lift to
  assist with transfer height differences from your wheelchair to the handc
 ycle. Moderate grip and core strength are needed for pedaling and braking.
  \n \nThe E-assist output is adjustable\, and the handcycle can be driven 
 using only the thumb throttle lever on the left hand pedal without pedalin
 g. Braking is with finger-grip levers on both hand pedals. Gear shifting i
 s with right hand thumb and finger levers. \n\nIt is highly recommended th
 at the rider is knowledgeable of bicycle gear shifting.\n\n​We provide req
 uired full-face helmets and elbow pads. \n\nLocation: (State Route 160/Pah
 rump Valley Highway\, Las Vegas\, NV 89123)\nTravel 15 miles west on State
  Route 160 from its intersection with I-15/Las Vegas Freeway to reach the 
 parking area.\n\nTickets are free\, but registration is required.\n\nBring
  drinking water. There is no water at the trailhead.\nThe area is pet frie
 ndly. Please clean up after your pets.\nPractice “Leave No Trace”!\n\nPLEA
 SE NOTE: If that it turns out that you cannot attend after you have regist
 ered\, please let us know as soon as possible so that our volunteers don't
  tow the equipment up the mountain and wait for you.  \n\nWe need time to 
 board the adaptive equipment\, hike\, and enjoy nature and our friends.   
 We will return to the parking lot by 3:00 to get you back into your wheelc
 hairs.
